Released just a few months back, Facebook Messenger rooms can integrate about 50 people in a single video conference. This feature was primarily made available just on Messenger but has finally showed up on the company’s instant messaging application – WhatsApp.
Launched just a few months ago, Facebook Messenger rooms can integrate around 50 users in a single video conference. It was primarily made available only on Messenger but this feature is eventually accessible on WhatsApp too which is the company’s instant messaging application. The Messenger Rooms support can even be used via WhatsApp by using the desktop version of the app.
At present, the feature is only available on the web and the desktop version of the app and may soon be accessible via phones too. Nonetheless, Facebook has not made any official declaration of the shortcut’s release on smartphones as of yet.
The company had earlier stated that it was testing Messenger Rooms correspondence with WhatsApp. As per WABetaInfo, a website that traces the newest WhatsApp features presented in the beta version of the app, the feature has finally disembarked on the platform for testing.
In order to create a room using WhatsApp’s shortcut, users will first have to update the WhatsApp Web version to its most recent one which is to 2.2031.4. Users can then move on to create a room by using either of these two methods:
Users can either directly click on the three dots on the left corner of the screen and then click on to Create a Room. This will lead to another new window with an option to straightaway go to the feature. Upon reaching there, users should click on the “Continue with Messenger” option to create a room.
For another way to use this feature, Facebook has incorporated the shortcut to Messenger Rooms in both individual or group chats. In order to create a room via a chat, users need to click on the attachment clip on the top right corner and then select the last option of Rooms. To move ahead, users will have to follow the same previously mentioned steps to begin with video conference.
The users should be aware that this brand new feature only offers support for Messengers Room on WhatsApp and does not establish new rooms entirely. With Messenger Rooms, the company intends to give direct competition to video conference platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, etc.
